Art in the Park Season

The start of the fifth annual Art in the Park season has begun! Last Wednesday, Art in the Park by the Temiskaming Art Gallery attracted many different people and brought them together for one grandiose evening of singing and artistry in the Habour Front Pavilion.

We had the Benoit family playing their music together, passing on the microphone to one another. The end of their songs were met with loud applause. While parents could enjoy Steve and his family, their children were occupied at the Creative Crew tent, where the EarlyON Centre did face painting. Many children left the tent as dogs and princesses. They could also leave chalk drawings on the sidewalk before meeting their parents to show them the art on their faces.

We had many different vendors this week, with no end to creativity in what products they had on display. Local artists sold their masterfully crafted art pieces. Some vendors sold bird houses and flowers, whereas another sold popsicles as a fund raiser for École Catholique Sainte-Croix's outdoor classroom. Nonetheless, the cool treats were a blessing in the scorching heat we had that night.

Members from the Rotary club were taking care of the barbecue. They prepared sausages, hamburgers, and cheeseburgers for the hungry crowd, and for dessert the Temiskaming Art Gallery sold decadent desserts from The Orchard.

All in all, we would say that the first day of Art in the Park 2019 was a success. If you missed it last Wednesday, it really isn’t something to skip! Come down to the Pavilion and enjoy the art, music, food, and the waterfront view!
