International Exchange Program

Airplane Wing View

June 2025 was the first year we had the opportunity to run our brand new exchange program. In collaboration with the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, the Baupres Gallery, Dory Perdomo, and Cesar Forero, the Temiskaming Art Gallery had the opportunity to send 2 of our summer students to Mazatlan, Mexico, and receive a student of our own.

June 2026 was the second year of our program. Miranda Soto Hernández was the exchange student who came to the Temiskaming Art Gallery for the month of June. Unfortunately due to instability in the area, we were not able to send Canadian students to Mexico.

Miranda, a university student at the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, joined us for the month of June. She was kindly hosted by Christina Geddes just a few minutes away from the gallery. In between helping out with just about everything TAG was doing this summer, Miranda curated an online exhibition from our Permanent Collection artworks.

Titled Our Origin/Ancestors, Miranda says,

"the selected paintings vary in artistic style, emphasizing that although we come from different places, nature  always accompanies us. They also reflect that life is a cycle in which creation, self-discovery, art, and culture all exist. Despite our ethnic differences, we all share the same humanity."
