Borealis

A combination of paintings and found object sculpture.

Lionel Venne is an award-winning, self-taught artist, who's living in Elk Lake since 1983. Venne has had exhibitions in Italy, Australia, Toronto, Vancouver and various small communities across BC and Ontario. He works with watercolour, acrylic, as well as collage, printmaking and textiles.

He has led many workshops over the years with Temiskaming Art Gallery. He was TAG's very first curator, served on the board of directors for many years and continues to support the gallery to this day.

Terry Fiset has been making sculptural art for 20 years. Everything he uses is either found in nature or are materials considered no longer useful. With a background as a mechanic, millwright, and trapper, he works masterfully with various materials he uses.

Fiset is passionate about environmental education and hopes that his found object sculptures inspire the viewers to open their eyes and see the richness of our natural resources in Northern Ontario.

Lionel and Terry have known each other for over 40 years. Living in Elk Lake, they both have deep ties to the land and base their creative work on our northern landscape.

A combination of paintings and found object sculptures, their work compliments each other, and really makes you feel grateful for the nature that surrounds us.
