*SUBMISSION UPDATE* The new deadline for submissions is August 21, 2020.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Group of Seven’s first exhibition, the Temiskaming Art Gallery is inviting artists of Northern Ontario (as defined by the NOAA) and NorthWestern Quebec to submit their own interpretations of Canadian identity. The Group of Seven was highly successful in presenting a unified image of Canadian identity rooted in the motif of the untamed North. TAG acknowledges that this identity was rooted within a singular viewpoint, and we feel that now it is time to diversify our conception of what it means to be Canadian, especially in the north. Please note that for this exhibition, only 20 entries will be selected as they will hang concurrently with Group of Seven originals on loan from private collections, in celebration of the opening of the Group of Seven in Temiskaming driving tour.
Are you interested in having an exhibition at TAG? Submit your application by May 29 to be considered by the annual programming review for TAG's 2022 lineup! Please see our submissions page on the TAG website for details.
