Anne McAllister Johnson

    The Right of Way Mine in Cobalt becomes a dark brooding ruin of past glory in Anne McAllister Johnson's oil painting in the TAG collection.  Anne McAllister Johnson (1916 - 2015) was an accomplished artist from printing to watercolour. She was born in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, she lived in Anyox, Wells, and Hedley, B.C., as well as Schumacher and Toronto, Ontario. Anne studied at the Toronto School of Art, Central Technical School and graduated with honours from the Ontario College of Art. She has exhibited in many places including the Timmins Museum, Porcupine Art Club, Northern Ontario Art Association, Grimsby Art Gallery and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.    

   

    Anne was a member of the Porcupine Art Club as well as the Kamloops Arts and Crafts Club, the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.

     La mine Right of Way de Cobalt devient un amas de ruines sombres et inquiétantes, restes d’un passé glorieux,  dans la peinture à l’huile d’Anne McAllister Johnson qui figure dans la collection de la GAT. Anne est une artiste accomplie qui pratique plusieurs disciplines depuis la gravure jusqu’à l’aquarelle. Elle est membre du club d’art de Porcupine et vit à Schumacher, Ontario. Native de Prince Rupert, Colombie-Britannique, Anne a étudié à la Toronto School of Art, Central Technical School, et a obtenu avec honneur son diplôme de l’Ontario College of Art. Elle a exposé ses œuvres, entre autres endroits, au Musée de Timmins, au Porcupine Art Club, à l’Association des artistes du nord de l’Ontario, à la Galerie d’art de Grimsby et à la Société canadienne des aquarellistes.
