Roberta Haviland

Being an artist in northern Ontario, It was obvious to me that the difficult terrain and hard economic conditions accounted for a compelling similarity in architecture between the Newfoundland I had lived and worked in and that of the towns in northern Ontario (Oh Cobalt Town). The landscape here has a presence in my work, but my life is driven by the wish to have my vocation and daily routine unified.

En tant qu'artiste dans le nord de l'Ontario, il était évident pour moi que le terrain difficile et les conditions économiques difficiles représentaient une similitude convaincante dans l'architecture entre Terre-Neuve ou j'avais vécu et travaillé et celle des villes du nord de l'Ontario (Oh Cobalt Town). Le paysage ici a une présence dans mes oeuvres, mais ma vie est motivée par le désir d'avoir une vocation et une routine quotidienne unifiées.
