Gary Blundell

Gary Blundell was born in London, England and immigrated to Canada in 1962. He remembers lying in a field as a child watching some balloons disappear into the vast emptiness of the sky. He remembers looking at everything on the ground. After graduating from University, he traveled throughout Europe looking at art. He then began to paint. He is inspired by Rembrandt, Turner, Soutine, Bonnard, Anselm Kiefer, Rothko, Van Gogh, Francis Bacon, Egon Schiele, David Milne, Paterson Ewen, John Brown and Susanna Heller, among other visual artists, and dozens of musicians and authors like Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, John Lennon, Jonny Greenwood, Virginia Woolf, Patrick White and many more. His work has been exhibited across Canada and in England. He was artist-in-residence at the Art House in Yorkshire England, the Straumur Arts Commune in Iceland, the Norfolk Arts Centre in Simcoe Ontario and at Pouch Cove in Newfoundland. His work can be found in collections throughout Canada, the USA and Europe. 1

Gary Blundell est né à Londres, en Angleterre, et a immigré au Canada en 1962. Il se souvient avoir été allongé dans un champ alors qu'il était enfant, regardant des ballons disparaître dans le vaste vide du ciel. Il se souvient avoir tout regardé par terre. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme universitaire, il a voyagé à travers l'Europe en regardant l'art. Il se met alors à peindre. Il s'inspire de Rembrandt, Turner, Soutine, Bonnard, Anselm Kiefer, Rothko, Van Gogh, Francis Bacon, Egon Schiele, David Milne, Paterson Ewen, John Brown et Susanna Heller, entre autres artistes visuels, et de dizaines de musiciens et d'auteurs comme Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, John Lennon, Jonny Greenwood, Virginia Woolf, Patrick White et bien d'autres. Son travail a été exposé partout au Canada et en Angleterre. Il a été artiste en résidence à la Art House dans le Yorkshire en Angleterre, à la Straumur Arts Commune en Islande, au Norfolk Arts Centre à Simcoe en Ontario et à Pouch Cove à Terre-Neuve. Son travail se retrouve dans des collections à travers le Canada, les États-Unis et l'Europe. 1
