For today's art activity I thought we could create sculptures using tin foil. The first video I am sharing is a tutorial that shows you how to sculpt a simple figure out of tin foil. If you'd rather your figure was a ballerina dancer try making one of these colourful coffee filter dresses as seen in the second video. Aluminum or tin foil is a fun and versatile sculpting material that can be used to create simple sculptures as well as very sophisticated and detailed ones. I have included two additional videos that show a time-lapse of the creation of an aluminum foil rose followed by an aluminum foil T-Rex. Once you understand the principles of adding new pieces and then pressing them down into the shape you desire you can move on to create your very own designs. This is an inexpensive material that you probably already have in your home however the edges of tin foil can sometimes be sharp so for younger artists it's probably a good idea to sculpt with a softer material such as playdough.
