Submerged Celestial

Dory Perdomo

Dory Perdomo, a Colombian-Mexican artist, explores painting, sculpture and upcycling and transforming old ships

Dory Perdomo is a Columbian-Mexican artist that works with different disciplines such as painting, graphics, sculpture and photography. She is the founder of the Bauprés Collective and the Bauprés Cultural Center, where she acts as Director.  In this exhibit 'Submerged Celestial' Dory has rescued material being incapable of fulfilling the purpose for which it was created, and pays respect to both the object and the men who once trusted in it their dreams of prosperity. Her work also highlights the importance of recycling and acknowledging our incredible ability to transform and reuse even the most toxic industrial waste.

She describes "The beauty that time imprints on the matter all around us: even if things seem to have reached  the end of their lives, they can still be beautiful, interesting, worthy of being transformed and preserved.
