Today I thought we could create some calming art projects. The observation, exploration and creation of art are all great ways to find peace and calm. I have put together a few relaxing art activities that you can easily do from the comfort of your own home. In the first tutorial you are guided through the process of using watercolor paints and meditation to achieve a relaxed and calm state of being. The second activity I have selected uses coloured sand. In this tutorial you learn how to create your own coloured sand and pouring tools as well as how to create your very own layered sand ‘paintings’. The third activity is for ‘sensory bottles’ or ‘calming jars’. These have become very popular in classrooms and daycares as they are wonderful for young children who are learning to regulate their emotions. Though they have been popularized for toddlers and children they are a wonderful and simple meditation tool for people of all ages. I hope these projects bring peace and calm into your lives.
