Another Day, Another Art in the Park

Our second Art in the Park went swimmingly. So many people came out to listen to the Mud Dogs, the band that was playing last night, and they were superb.

The kid’s activity was in the Creative Crew tent, and this week they were painting penne rigate noodles and stringing them, as well as beads, onto twine to make necklaces. The kids also had the opportunity to doodle to their heart’s content on a large piece of paper and they seemed to be having lots of fun!

Yet again we had amazing hamburgers, sausages, and hotdogs from Quality Meats, and they were so popular that by the end of the night we had no hotdogs left over! We had our wonderful volunteers Cal, Donna, and Louise serving the food, and they did an excellent job. We had brownies and butter tarts just like last week, but to mix it up we also had Flakies from the Orchard. Everyone seemed to love them, because they were bought up very quickly, and by the end of the night we only had a few brownies left.

The vendors were again selling their gorgeous paintings and prints, jewellery, books, dream catchers, purses, wooden houses, and painted rocks. If you need a reason to go to Art in the Park, checking out the vendors is a must.

Our TAG table was manned by Kirsten Hill, the Interim Gallery Manager at the Temiskaming Art Gallery. The table was set up with t-shirts, cards and catalogues with designs from the Benjamin Chee-Chee exhibition, brochures for the upcoming musicians, Temiskaming Art Gallery membership information, and of course our free raffle draw for a small framed piece of artwork by Tag’s previous longtime director/curator Maureen Steward.

If you missed it this week there’s no excuse not to come next Wednesday. And if you were there last night, you have to come back again to see what’s new!
