Sketching en plein airFor over a hundred years’ artists have been coming to paint the scenery around Cobalt. And for over fifty years, there has been a Cobalt Artists’ Colony where each summer artists come together to learn and experiment. For the past few years, children (age 7 to 15) have also been coming to Cobalt as part of the Temiskaming Art Gallery’s summer art camp. The children have the opportunity to learn from some of the area’s best artists and instructors, and get to go out on field trips to paint or draw in the fresh air. The week is full of fun, with lots of chances to learn new things, create some wonderful art and meet new friends. At the end of the week, the children’s work is put on display for parents and friends to see before taking their treasures home.
