Linda Hankin's says she loves to paint the spirit of the land, sea and sky.She began her professional career in1989 when she graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Arts. Linda lives in the Niagara region where she settled with her husband, Philip Hankin. Their old farmhouse is frequently the subject of Hankin’s paintings. Among her solo exhibitions included one in 1992 at the Niagara Falls Art Gallery (Kurelek collection), entitled ‘A Personal to Public Landscape’. Also in 1992 she participated with other artists in ‘On the Edge’ project. Its aim was to focus attention on the value of the natural environments of the Hamilton Region and encourage its preservation. Two Hankin paintings were published in the accompanying book, launched at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

In 1994, Hankin spent 4 months in southern Spain and Europe. On her return she had several solo exhibitions including one at the Rodman Hall Arts Centre, Brock University. During a serious illness and convalescence of her husband, she also produced a large body of lap size and intimate work created at his side. After her husband’s death in 1999, she opened the studio and gallery, School of Ideas and Visual Art dedicated to his memory.

Among other collections, Hankin’s work is in the Albright Knox Members’ Gallery, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Linda Hankin donated her work, The Horse and Rose at the time of her exhibition Sense of Place and the Official Opening of the new Temiskaming Gallery in 2008.1
