J. R. Ribee’s photographs of Georgian Bay are his first collection of fine art photography. A commercial photographer for much of his career, he had not been inspired to photograph in his leisure time until a summer on Georgian Bay. Ribee says, “Bursts of sun fed the colours, inspiring me to pull out my camera. Light so clean and brilliant that it bounced from water to shore, illuminating nature’s rich palette…These photographs speak to a passion for rich hues that dance in the light”.

Ribee lives and works in Cambridge, Ontario but his work takes him on assignments all over the world. He is also associate photo editor of the Canadian magazine, Amoi, which celebrates Canada’s rich multicultural diversity. He was self-taught showing a strong interest in photography at an early age. He now works with digital photography which he feels helps his ability to maintain control and enhance the quality of his work.
