Village Noel Kiosk November 28 - 30, 2014 we had a kiosk in the Village Noel Temiskaming. Admittedly, it was cold by any standard, but the community spirit was powerful, such that we are already talking about next year's Village Noel.To read more about Village Noel  CLICK HERE! ARTEM.png

2014 Christmas Dinner Fundraiser

Christmas Dinner FundraiserThe Cobalt Community Hall has never been more beautiful

The ceiling was hung with stars and huge branches of greenery and ribbons bedecked the walls.  The meal provided by VIP Lounge was memorable.  A live musical trio enhanced and enlivened the Christmas spirit. And there were draws and raffles.

Joe Mulnar, oil on masonite, 1958 "My approach is spontaneous, intuitive and uncomplicated.
I quite often just sit out there for quite a long time before I even think about painting. . . .
I have to sit out there and let the trees come together and come alive. Then I respond to what's around me and start painting.

Twyla Exner: "System & Things"  EXHIBIT

The Temiskaming Art Gallery features the sculptural works of Saskatchewan artist, Twyla Exner, to May 16, 2014 called, SYSTEM AND THINGS. Her work explores humanity's contemporary relationship with electronics and technology. Typically, the artist uses hand weaving, to build structures that sprout, seemingly organically, out of the mechanical tools of our lives. The exhibition comprises drawings and sculptures using discarded telephone wires as both material and conceptual inspiration. Stripped from their original casings and woven into organic forms that recall nature. Wires become plants, organisms evolving to form habitats and systems growing in and out of abandoned and obsolete electronics. These sculptures engage with many current social, political and environmental issues, but are also whimsical imaginings of the artist. Twyla Exner lives in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. She studied visual art in Regina and Montreal, graduating with a Masters of Fine Arts in 2010.
