Biographies > Heili Elfson

Heili Elfson medium of choice was oil, but she also occasionally painted watercolours. She lived in South Porcupine and painted with the group of painters called the Porcupine Three. Every week they would go out to paint in the area. Elfson was very modest about her work. Her friends and colleagues thought she was an outstanding painter, but she tended to focus on her family life. But even then, Elfson painted everything around her and maintained her creativity. The only formal training she received was from local courses and from learning from the artists in her group. Over time, her style became very distinctive. She took her art very seriously and focused on landscapes and portraits. Her medium of choice was oil, but she occasionally did watercolours. Her husband was very supportive and took her to outdoor places where she was inspired.
