Diane is a northeastern Ontario artist to her soul. Born and raised in Elk Lake, Ontario, her art has always been inspired by her love of nature and people of the region.Her pastel of the ice ridge on Lake Temiskaming in the TAG collection conjures up the splendour and danger found in northern winters. As well as self-taught, she has taken many local courses and workshops. She is a regular participant at the Cobalt Artists’ Colony and has been its tireless convenor for over ten years. Diane originally painted in oils but now also works in pastels and watercolours. Diane is a member of the Temiskaming Palette and Brush Club and the NOAA. She has exhibited in many group exhibitions and in 2005 she had a solo show at the Classic Theatre gallery in Cobalt. She has had works accepted in the NOAA’s Juried Exhibitions and won the Manitoulin Transport Award in 1991, the Sheila Langlois Award in 2001 and Honourable Mention in 2002.
Diane est du fond de l’âme une artiste du nord de l’Ontario. Native d’Elk Lake, Ontario, où elle a grandi, son art s’est toujours inspiré de son amour de la nature et des gens de la région. Son pastel de la collection de la GAT, qui reproduit une crête de glaces empilées contre le littoral du lac Témiscamingue, rappelle les splendeurs et les dangers de nos hivers nordiques. En partie autodidacte, Diane a suivi plusieurs cours et ateliers d’art donnés en région. Elle est une des régulières de la Colonie d’artistes de Cobalt pour laquelle elle a œuvré inlassablement comme coordonnatrice pendant plus de dix ans. Diane a commencé par la peinture à l’huile avant d’aborder le pastel et l’aquarelle. Elle est membre du Temiskaming Palette and Brush Club et de l’A.A.N.O. Elle a fait plusieurs expositions de groupe en sus d’une exposition en solo à la galerie du Théâtre Classic de Cobalt en 2005. Certaines de ses œuvres ont été retenues pour les expositions-concours annuelles de l’A.A.N.O. et lui ont valu le Prix Manitoulin Transport en 1991, le Prix Sheila Langlois en 2001 et une mention honorable en 2002.
