Samara plastering the walls
After all the artwork from the previous exhibition gets packed and shipped away, TAG staff begin to plaster and sand the walls to prepare for the next exhibition.
-
Sarah washing the walls
After we've sanded the plaster patches, we wash the walls down with warm water to get rid of the plaster dust. The plaster dust causes bumps and irregularities in the paint.
-
re-painting the panels
It's important to always remember to patch and re-paint the panels in the Gallery. Sometimes they get used during an exhibition and sometimes they remain against the wall depending on the number of paintings in the exhibition.
-
Samara painting panels
Applying the first coat of paint. Typically we paint two coats in the gallery so ensure a smooth, clean surface.
-
Sarah painting
Installations usually take about 4 days from start to finish. Here Sarah uses a roller to apply the first coat of paint on the curve wall.
-
Decisions...decisions
In this photo, Samara and Sarah are unpacking and arranging the paintings to be hung on the walls.
-
Unpacking the show
TAG staff take care when unpacking the paintings to ensure the paintings do not get damaged. We place cardboard on the floor to avoid scratching the frames.
-
Arrangement
The second coat of paint has dried at this point and the paintings have been arranged in their proper places to be hung.
-
Measuring the height
Here Alice Anne and Sarah are measuring the height that the drill hole will be to hang the painting.
-
-
Leveling
Here Alice Anne and Sarah measure to ensure that the two paintings are level.
-
Drilling
Here Sarah uses a drill to put the screw in place. We first drill a pilot hole and then put the screw in place to ensure that the plaster doesnt crack.
-
Hanging
Sarah uses great care as she hangs this painting on the wall. The larger paintings require two people to hang them.

Lighting
In this photo, you can see that the paintings have been hung up on the walls. You'll notice however that the lighting is not acurate. This is because they are still shining on the places where the paintings were in the previous exhibition.
-
Panels
Since there were fewer paintings in this particular exhibition, we decided to place all three of the panels against the wall. As you can see, the lighting still needs to be adjusted.
-
Adjusting the lighting
Here Samara uses a ladder to adjust the track lighting.
-
Lighting
Here the lighting has been properly adjusted to showcase the painting in this photo.
